1. Key responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management
  • Provide nursing leadership, direction and administration of the day to day nursing operations and coordination of activities of the Nursing Division. Oversee the implementation of overall standards and quality of nursing practice
  • Responsible for the training, development and maintenance of professional and quality nursing care
  • Responsible for prudent resource management and achievement of established budgets of capital and operating budgets
  • Clinical Nursing Governance
  • Create awareness among the nurses and allied health staff in the nursing division of the company’s vision, mission and core values
  • Lead in developing and implementing nursing philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures, and standards of practice
  • Provide leadership, direction and administration in the day-to-day nursing operations to ensure delivery of safe and quality nursing care
  • Mentor, coach and advocate ADON/SNM/NM/NE on the required skills, knowledge, attitude and behaviors to meet the hospital requirement
  • Provide leadership in Nursing E&T to establish training plans for education and training and development
  • Form collegial relationship with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve the desired outcomes of the delivery of care.
  • Maintain open channels of communications with staff within his/her division including periodical formal meetings
  • Lead and facilitate nursing and cross-functional committees and projects, ensuring and promoting a safety and healthy workplace and culture.
  • As the nursing lead in hospital committees such as Hospital Medical Board, Quality Assurance & Infection Control; and other  committees which require the nursing leader or designate.
  • Responsible for the overall clinical operations of the nursing services and ensures constant evaluation to provide safe and therapeutically effective patient care.
  • Oversee the development, evaluation and maintenance quality control indices and standards in collaboration with Nursing Quality Assurance experts.
  • Follow-up hospital incident reviews with QA Department by promoting open reporting and a non-blame culture; and a lessons-learnt critical debrief with recommendations for preventive reoccurrence and improvement.
  • Manpower Management
  • Develop an overall hospital staffing plan which will accomplish the stated objectives and standards of the clinical service as well as promoting the maximum utilization of all the staff, based on qualifications, competencies, scope of work and responsibilities
  • Establish and monitors a system of classification according to patient acuity in order to justify staffing quotas and workload.
  • Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, development and retention of nurses and allied health staff in collaboration with the Human Resource Department. Monitor and review the attrition rates of staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of ADONs & Nursing Admin/Nursing Education staff in his/her division.
  • Identify, nurture, guide and develop talent of the staff for leadership roles and succession planning.
  • Nursing Education & Training
  • Oversee the Nursing & Education Department in collaboration with Human Resource Department.
  • Provide leadership to the NE in the development of the Education & Training Department: Nursing Induction for newly employed nurses, related training programs and continuous nursing education.
  • Guide NE in the assessment of clinical competencies of nurses and allied health staff.
  • Advise on the overall training gaps and needs analysis of all nurses and allied health.
  • Review proposed training plans for the continuous improvement and professional development; and for succession planning.
  • Participate in the training and development of systems in hospital operations such as EMR, Dashboards, Versalius System and others.
  • Responsible for self-continuous education and professional development.
  • Financial Management
  • Determine, review and recommend departmental capital and operating budgets requirements, inclusive of manpower, for respective cost centres annually and in collaboration with the Finance Department.
  • Approve of Purchase Requisition as per hospital policy.
  • Monitor and control operating expenses and review monthly financial reports of all nursing units under her domain. Report on variances and overall financial performance and actions planned to correct adverse performances to CEO in the quarterly annual reports.
2. What distinguishes you:
  • Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse
  • Post Graduate Nursing Specialty Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Nursing or equivalent
  • Degree/Master in Nursing Administration, Health /Management Studies or equivalent
  • Experience
  • Registered nurse with at least 10-12 years of clinical experience
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in senior management/leadership in healthcare setting or hospitals
  • Skills
  • Good interpersonal, communication skills, negotiation and counselling skills
  • Demonstrate desired leadership behavior, aptitude, attitude and skills.
  • Possesse good knowledge of clinical skills and experience in nursing/hospital management
  • People orientated, proactive and innovative
  • Team player with cross-functional divisions/departments
  • Systems thinking - cares about the whole as well as the parts
  • Computer savvy: MS Words, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, MS Project and SharePoint.
