A. Requirements:

  • Educational Level: University Graduated

Work Experience:

  • Experience required minimum 5 years in relevant section of Refinery or petrochemicals with prior experience in engineering/mechanical/process piping and pipelines and engaged in actual field operation for minimum 3 years which includes not only on stream plant but also trouble-shooting, projects and  preparation for daily and turnaround maintenance.

Specialty/Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Skills:

  • Require specialized skills in piping circuits and international standards including API, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, EEMUA, NORSOK, DNV, ASTM, NACE, AWS, AWWA, EURONORM, PED, ISO 9001 standards inspection and international inspection codes and standards.
  • Good Knowledge of Materials selection for piping classes
  • Good of Common welded and bolted fabrication methods
  • Good Knowledge of stress analysis for piping including CAESAR II package
  • Good Knowledge of mechanical loads, fatigue and corrosion (including high temperature mechanisms)
  • Knowledge of Inspection in common crude oil refinery equipment
  • Some experience of Cathodic protection strategies and monitoring
  • Understanding of coatings application and monitoring
  • Understanding of piping design and also pipe-run installation
  • Experience in 3D modelling of  piping systems (NAVIS works, AVIVA etc).
  • SMART plant experience (or equivalent)
  • AUTOCAD experience.
  • Knowledge of RED LINING control process for piping modification

B. Purpose

Piping engineer assists and replaces Senior piping engineer with designs and approves projects and MOCs in support of Maintenance division, new projects and turnarounds. Gives advice to support all technical staff and contractors during planning as well as detailed instruction during the implementation of work. Supervises the work of contract piping engineers

C. Responsibility

For this position, minimum works are as follows:

  • Responsible to support Senior Piping Engineer to provide piping design and troubleshooting of changes to Projects, Inspection and Metallurgy/Mechanical team as well as staff throughout the refinery.
  • Assist to advise inspection staff, especially particularly engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, including planning inspection work, evaluating work perform and handling procedural and inspection problems.
  • Assist Senior Engineer to develop standards, workflows and procedures with cooperation with other section/division and other processes according to management manual, included how to respond to incidence/failure regarding inspection activities.
  • Support to plan, develop and present workshops.
  • Support to design and approve appropriate work schedules for contractors and staff and plan daily work assignments in order to maintain an adequate personnel complement without excessive team sizes.
  • Assist Senior Piping Engineer to monitor quality control, quality assurance, safety and inspection control practices to assure compliance with internal and external standards (ASME, API, NORSOK).
  • Support to maintain safe operations enforcing strict conformance with all government regulations and applicable company procedures and policies.
  • Report to the Senior piping Engineer on an administrative level.
