Position: English Translator - Interpreter
Reports to: Manager of Translation & Interpretation or Manager of Administration
- Typical background of Candidates:
+ Education: Undergraduate degree in English language, with advanced degree preferred; interpreters may require specific interpreting training/qualifications
+ Experience: At least 3 years translating/interpreting experience, ideally in a corporate environment; editing experience a plus
+ Knowledge: Fluency in English; familiarity with English translation software
+ Skills: Superior written and oral communication skills; strong client service orientation; ability to work well both in teams and independently; ability to manage multiple priorities; self-motivation; high quality and service standards
- Typical responsibilities
Translators
+ Translate documents into English and vice versa, across a range of formats
+ Provide advice on audience tailoring and points of grammar/style across a wide spectrum of target groups, topics, and business-writing genres
+ Edit documents for style, logical flow, and impact, as needed
+ Coordinate and coach freelance translators as needed
Interpreters
+ Facilitate effective communication between client service professionals and clients by converting spoken statements from one language to another in range
of situations (e.g., in-person meetings, videoconference sessions, phone calls)
+ Coordinate and coach freelance interpreters as needed
+ 3-4 years of conference live interpretation experience
