Position Summary

Lead and develop Engineering team, recruit talents, provide advisement and guiding, streamline engineering process and system, optimize resources, collaborate with global cross-functional teams & suppliers, plan and drive the PSE (Production Support Engineering), VE (Value Engineering), Transfer (Production Line Transfer) and NPD (New Product Development) projects to launch the products in good quality, on time delivery and competitive cost.

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Hands on in the PSE, VE, Transfer and new product development processes, engineering system enhancement and management activities.
  • Drive engineering talents recruitment, team training and development, plan for supporting future business growth needs.
  • Provide direction, coaching, guidance and motivation, and engage the team to achieve goal and build proactive, innovative, strong technical & high performing team, to facilitate the product development and problem solving.
  • Take lead and promote innovation, teamwork, continuous improvement, strong ownership and leadership mindset within Engineering team.
  • Develop and manage engineering department and project capex budget, and engineering resource plan.
  • Drive the development of standardization, platforms, design guidelines and streamlined processes and follow through to ensure all the product developments are delivered on time, at cost, within budget, meet or exceed established performance targets.
  • Develop engineering strategies and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering operation efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote effective communication with the global cross-functional teams, and the continuous improvement with suppliers.
  • Introduce new techniques and tools to the engineering development process to shorten development cycle time
  • Work with global cross-functional teams (Sourcing, Quality/ SQE, etc.) on the supplier strategies development.
  • Acts as liaison between PRC, US and Vietnam to make sure all engineering process and procedures are at the same page.
  • Lead the team to carry out engineering assessment of supplier qualification.

Person Specifications

  • University or above degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Manufacturing or other related Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written in English. With fluent Vietnamese or Mandarin are additional advantage.
  • At least 15 years of experience in engineering design and product development, in which at least 10 years of experience in people development and engineering organization management experience.
  • Strong engineering mindset with in-depth small household appliances or Power Tools knowledge is an advantage.
  • Experience in plastic molding, machining, heat treatment, forging, casting or metal operations.
  • Proficient computer skills in Windows, MS Office, MS Project and Power Point.
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
  • Independent, dedicated, proactive mindset, self-driving, strong leadership.
  • Candidates with less experience can be considered as Sr. Manager.

Position Factors

  • Supervises:
    • Lead and develop an team of 30 – 100 engineers working on all the PSE, VE, Transfer and NPD engineering activities.
  • Impact of the position
    • The position is critical for restructuring and developing Vietnam Engineering organization in PSE, VE, NPD, EE, Motor, SPE, Tooling, etc. in order the team can grow quickly and well support the Vietnam manufacturing, localization and new product development.

    • Department: Upper management, Project Leader, all the engineers.
    • Cross-functional teams: Purchasing, Tooling, OPM, Packaging, AQE/ SQE/ RE, SCM, CAD, CAE, Eng System, Materials Lab, Test Lab, Regulatory Lab, Finance, HR, Admin, IT, etc.

    • Milwaukee US: NPD/ ENG, Product Marketing, QE, RE, SCM.
    • PRC: suppliers, colleges (campus recruitment), Training.
