ManpowerGroup Vietnam convenes with CFVG to organize HR Coffee Talk to share tips for winning the war for talent in uncertain times

Hanoi, 16th January 2021 – Today, ManpowerGroup Vietnam partnered with French – Vietnamese Center for Management (CFVG) to organize the HR Coffee Talk “Winning the War for Talent in Uncertain Times”. The event aims to share challenges and know-how in attracting and retaining talent during and after the pandemic. Experienced speakers, who are from leading global workforce solutions company ManpowerGroup Vietnam, Senior Advisor, Organization and HC Transformation, Management Consulting and PYS Travel shared stories about how their businesses steered their "personnel boat" throughout 2020.

The latest research from ManpowerGroup, “TheFuture for Workers, By Workers” shows that a small part of the world's population is infected with COVID-19, but the majority (93%) will be affected by this pandemic. The pandemic that started as a health crisis is now bringing along social and economic crises. ManpowerGroup Vietnam's “Vietnam Employment Outlook Survey In The New Normal” revealed that more than 27% of businesses in Vietnam are seriously impacted by the crisis and nearly 7% of them face the risk of complete business discontinuation (*).

However, according to our survey, domestic employers sharedpositive recruitment trends with 38.6% expecting that their hiring would return to normal as it wasbefore COVID-19, within the the next three months. Over a longer period of time, more than 35% of employers are expecting their hiring to recover (in the next 6 to 9 months); and about 21% of employers forecasttheir hiring will return to normal within a year.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang, Country Head, Permanent Recruitmentand Consulting Services – ManpowerGroup Vietnam said: “This crisis is driving the demand for technical and soft skills that we have foreseenbefore. Increasing demand for skills that only humanspossess, also known as soft skills, is becoming important more than ever for both workers and leaders, i.e.communication skills, prioritization skills, adaptability, initiative taking, critical thinking, relationship building etc."

From business consulting point of view, Ms. Vu Thi Le Lan,Senior Advisor, Organization and HCTransformation, shared: “Under COVID-19 impacts, unemployment increased but the shortage of people with relevant skills are even more rigorous. Businesses need to adjust their strategies and policies to attract and retain talent in this uncertainty. Specifically, businesses need to develop flexible strategies for talent management, prioritize necessary tasks, identifying and communicating responsibility to stakeholders”

Now and more than ever, business leaders need to proactively establish flexible and responsive principles to steer their business through the crisis with safety and success. This is also the time to reconsider how people work, are recognized and rewarded. With employees at the center, organizations should turn into well-being experts, and even education advisers. Mr. Trinh Dinh Minhrepresenting PYS Travel alsoagreed that “In order to overcome the crisis, leadership role as well as corporate culture are key factors to help businesses be resilient in uncertain times.”
