ManpowerGroup Vietnam discussed 2023 Future of work trends together with leading international organizations

Thursday, 23rd February 2023, Mr. Andree Mangels, General Manager of ManpowerGroup Vietnam joined the seminar “Global Talent Trends In Finance” as a keynote speaker. The event was hosted by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in partnership with ManpowerGroup Vietnam, Deloitte and Schneider Electric. The seminar was aimed at discussing future workforce trends impacted by multifaceted factors as well as supporting businesses to think ahead and thrive in an uncertain future.

Traditional work has changed so drastically – not just due to the pandemic, but technological development, shifting demographics, political and economic instability. Many of these changes, which started during Covid-19, have been accelerating and have become permanent aspects of our working lives today. As business leaders, the need to realize those trends and turn into effective talent management and retention strategies has grown in importance.

In the first section of the seminar, Mr. Andree Mangels talked about four major workforce trends in the digital age in Vietnam, i.e. virtual recruitment, hybrid work, soft skills, and contingent workforce & DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging).

Online recruitment has come into reality thanks to the evolution of digital tools during the pandemic. This trend continues after Covid-19 with 50% of all first-round interviews are still online. Not only does technology significantly affect the recruitment process, it has also been impacting how work is done and posing a threat to employment security, such as in the case of the new chatbot chatGPT.

In today’s world characterized by talent shortages, volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA), contingent work has grown in importance and become a sustainable solution for organizations. “This agile workforce is believed to provide employers with great benefits, from leveraging untapped talent pools, reducing operating expenses, to flexibly adapting to unexpected business requests. Together with DEIB, it allows companies to take one step closer to building an agile and diverse workforce and have greater chance to win in the race for talent”, said Andree.

Other future trends in finance and accounting talent management were also delivered and discussed at the seminar by Deloitte. The final interesting panel discussion with all guest speakers under ACCA’s moderation brought the most fulfilling experience to 80 executives at the event.
