ManpowerGroup Salary Guide 2024: Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Strategy is Transforming

Vietnam, December 5th, 2023 – ManpowerGroup Vietnam releases its 2024 Salary Guide, a comprehensive resource for both domestic and foreign businesses that are seeking manpower insights into the dynamic landscape of the Vietnamese market today. The Guide provides an in-depth industry overview and salary ranges for various roles and levels across 10 key industries grounded in real data and projections.

Key findings from our salary guide

    • Stable salary in most industries: Despite challenges like weaker consumer spending and global geopolitical conflicts, salary ranges in 2024 are expected to remain stable.

    • Highest-paying jobs keeping their places: Banking & Financial Services, particularly in Banking and Insurance, retain their status as the highest-paying sector. Digital, Media & Technology sectors follow closely, with Software and E-commerce Technology roles boasting the highest paying jobs.

    • Green jobs on the rise: The guide highlights a notable increase in ESG-related roles in 2024, accompanied by more generous remuneration packages. Health-Safety-Environment (HSE) specialists are expected to receive between US$1,200-2,000 per month, while HSE Managers may command up to US$9,000 per month, depending on the industry.

    • A greater focus on employee wellbeing: Business leaders are placing greater emphasis on understanding and supporting the needs of their workforce. The emergence of the Head of Health & Wellbeing role in job listings, particularly in Banking & Financial Services, reflects this focus on achieving life-work harmony, with pay rates comparable to technical roles.

The world is undergoing a rapid transformation towards a more sustainable and resilient future. Adoption of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) goals has evolved from a differentiator for a small group of large companies to a more widely expected standard of global business best practices. Vietnam’s commitment to this global agenda is evident through Decision No. 1658/QD-TTg approving the National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030 period, with a vision extending to 2050. This national priority has created new opportunities and challenges for the workforce and employers alike.

As the leading global recruitment, staffing, and outsourcing company in Vietnam, ManpowerGroup Vietnam has observed the rising demand for green skills and roles across various sectors and functions. “The ‘new collar’ of work now is green and the understanding of “green” has expanded. Employers across industries are looking for talent who can contribute to their ESG goals and initiatives, regardless of their technical background,” said Simon Matthews, Regional Manager Southeast Asia, ManpowerGroup. “Globally, 70% of employers are currently or actively planning to recruit for green jobs and skills and in Vietnam, manufacturing tops the list of in-demand industries for green jobs (33%) in the first 11 months of 2023.”

While white-collar job demand has rebounded post-pandemic, the talent market remains fiercely competitive. Ms Trang Nguyen, Head of Manpower brand said: “Employers need to be more creative and flexible in how they attract and retain talent, as salary alone is not enough to satisfy the diverse needs and aspirations of the workforce and to keep paying a higher remuneration is not a viable solution in the long-term.”

The pandemic has reshaped the expectations of both employers and workers, with an increasing focus on work-life harmony. Trang observes, “Workers of all generations seek benefits beyond a paycheck, such as paid parental leave, skills growth, and work flexibility. Employers in Vietnam are recognizing this shift and are becoming more competitive in attracting and retaining best talent.”

Vietnam continues to be a magnet for international enterprises seeking robust growth opportunities, buoyed by favorable conditions and vibrant young workforce. With over 16 years of HR expertise in Vietnam, ManpowerGroup Vietnam offers valuable insights and guidance for business leaders, HR managers and job seekers navigating in the changing world of work.
