Responsibilities:
- Assisting and developing the Firm’s dispute resolution practice, as well as also being involved in other practice areas to the extent requested to do so;
- Providing strategic legal advice on dispute resolution to our clients;
- Assisting and advising clients in dispute resolution;
- Preparing other regulatory advice, drafting documents, reviewing documents and negotiating
- Transactions for and on behalf of clients of the Firm;
- Collecting and reviewing all the relevant documents to the dispute cases;
- Reviewing draft statement of claim or defense, draft or review witness statements, and other submissions, letters, correspondence to co-counsel, arbitrators and other parties relevant to a disputes matter etc.;
- Assisting in settlement negotiations and drafting settlement agreements;
- Dealing with arbitration and court submissions and monitoring progress and deadlines for clients;
- Attending meetings and telephone calls with clients, counterparties and/or their counsel;
- Generating revenue through effective client management and business development activities;
- Coordinating the preparation of Vietnamese and English language versions of documentation and precedents for the Firm’s database;
- Assisting in the promotional activities and business development initiatives of the Firm, especially focused on promoting the Firm’s dispute resolution practice and other practice areas of the Firm;
- Attending and participating in training and development sessions within the Firm to share your knowledge with other team members and enhance your own;
- Preparing, attending and presenting at external and inhouse seminars and webinars for our team, clients, potential clients and friends of our Firm;
- Writing articles, legal updates and guides on existing and proposed legislation and practices; and
- Performing such other tasks as would be usually carried out by lawyers within the Firm.
Requirements:
- Must be a qualified Vietnamese lawyer with at least 8+ years of experience at a reputable law firm(s) in Vietnam and specialisation in litigation/ arbitration/ dispute resolution;
- Knowledge of court and arbitration procedures;
- Strong assessment skills in voluminous documentation and evidence;
- Strong interpersonal skills in coordinating with team members and/ or client and/ or collaborating counsel as may be required or requested to do so;
- Extensive senior experience in dispute resolution law-related matters;
- Very detail-oriented while still able to understand the case overall and assess its strengths and weaknesses;
- Excellent and fluent English language skills (oral and written) and the confidence to communicate professionally in a multi-cultural environment;
- Ability to work individually and in a team;
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, build strong relationships with clients, and demonstrate ability to drive results in business development;
- Meticulous, attention to detail and well organised.
