Position Summary:
The Chief Engineer will oversee the entire engineering department at The Hotel, ensuring the hotel's buildings, facilities, systems, and equipment are efficiently maintained and operational. This role requires a proactive leader capable of managing the hotel's infrastructure, optimizing energy consumption, and ensuring that all safety and regulatory standards are met. The Chief Engineer will collaborate with international hotel operators to maintain brand standards and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of all hotel facilities, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and elevators to ensure 24/7 seamless functioning.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment, rooms, and public areas to minimize downtime and repair costs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental regulations are strictly followed. Maintain all necessary permits and ensure compliance with local building codes and brand standards.
  • Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-saving initiatives and maintain sustainability programs to optimize energy consumption without compromising guest comfort.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and train the engineering team, promoting development opportunities, and ensuring adherence to brand standards in maintenance operations.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective maintenance practices. Track expenditures and negotiate contracts with external vendors for cost efficiency.
  • Crisis Management: Be on-call to handle emergencies and ensure immediate corrective action to minimize the impact on hotel operations.
  • Project Management: Manage renovations, upgrades, or any construction projects within the hotel, working closely with contractors and consultants to ensure timely and quality completion.
  • Brand Standards: Collaborate with the hotel’s operator to ensure that maintenance and repair processes align with brand requirements.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure prompt, efficient, and quality service delivery to address guest complaints and requests related to engineering.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in an engineering management role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Experience working with international hotel brands is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and hotel maintenance operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and energy management practices.
  • Ability to handle emergencies and perform under pressure.
  • Certifications: HVAC, electrical, or related technical certifications are an advantage.
  • Language: Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
