Job Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic FMCG Merchandise Manager to oversee product assortment, inventory levels, and sales strategies across our stores located specialize in rural areas. The Merchandise Manager will be responsible for ensuring the right mix FMCG are available in each store, and sales targets. This role involves close coordination with store managers, suppliers, and the retail operations team to maximize product performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Merchandise Planning and Strategy:
  • Develop and implement a merchandise strategy that aligns with company goals, sales targets, and customer preferences in rural areas.
  • Analyze consumer trends, market demands, and seasonal patterns to plan product assortments.
  • Ensure that product ranges and inventory are optimized to meet store needs and drive sales in each location.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, pricing and product availability.
2. Inventory Management:
  • Lead and manage a team of buyers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of products.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels across all stores to prevent stockouts or overstock situations
  • Use data analytics to forecast demand and adjust inventory levels in response to changing market conditions.
  • Implement inventory control measures to ensure efficient stock management and minimize wastage
3. Vendor and Supplier Relations:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with FMCG suppliers, negotiating for better prices, promotions, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure suppliers deliver on time and in full while maintaining high standards of product quality.
4. Sales Performance and Reporting:
    • Monitor sales performance of all FMCG categories and adjust strategies as needed to improve revenue.
    • Provide detailed sales reports, inventory analysis, and profitability reviews to senior management.
    • Identify underperforming products and develop strategies to improve sales or phase them out.
5. Promotion and Pricing:
    • Work with the marketing team and supplier to develop effective promotional strategies tailored for rural customers.
    • Implement pricing strategies that are competitive while ensuring profit margins are maintained.
    • Coordinate with store managers to ensure proper execution of promotions and product displays.
6. Team Coordination and Support:
    • Liaise with store managers to understand customer needs, challenges, and opportunities at each location.
    • Provide training and support to store staff on merchandising best practices, product knowledge, and inventory management
7. Market Research and Competitor Analysis:
    • Monitor competitors’ activities and pricing to adjust merchandising strategies and stay competitive.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in FMCG merchandising or retail management,
  • Strong understanding of FMCG products and consumer behavior in rural regions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and proven experience in managing vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and sales reporting tools.
  • Analytical mindset with strong data interpretation and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across geographically dispersed stores.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
