Welding Fabrication Specialist - Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join our team. The Welder will oversee the welding
and fabricating of metal components according to specifications to produce high-quality
products at our contract manufacturer.
Job Summary
The candidate must have high leadership skills, excel at data management, and adhere to best
practices in welding and fabrication. The candidate must also fully support and drive company
objectives, take initiative in all aspects of work, and promote these activities to the organisation
to ensure contractor manufacture adheres to the specifications and standards defined.
Qualifications
A BS degree in welding engineering, mechanical engineering with fabrication experience,
manufacturing engineering with fabrication experience, or three years or more of
experience in welding engineering or fabrication.
Proven management experience and the proven ability to lead a team in a manufacturing
environment.
Must have industry experience in mechanical welding(GMAW) and fabrication, creating
PQR and WPS, and dealing with fabrication technologies. Certification from the American
Welding Society is required or equivalent.
Continuous improvement qualifications and experience in welding and metal fabrication.
A professional credential demonstrating an individual's expertise in the Six Sigma
methodology.
Lean methodologies and practices are needed.
Experience in large-scale production welding environments.
Robot Programming experience and experience with welding failure analysis
Experience/Certification with non-destructive weld inspection methods
Experience with (ASTM, JIS, GB) Welding Specifications, Standards, and Manufacturing
Practices
Experience with weld process development and procedure qualification
Experience with reading prints and the technical details associated with the weld
instructions.
Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Technical fluency in English skills, written and verbal.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Robotic welding: 7 years (Required)
Welding (GMAW): 7 years (Required)
Certified Welding Inspector (Required)
Responsibilities
The Welder will oversee the welding and fabricating of metal components according to
specifications to produce high-quality products at the selected contract manufacturer.
A welding engineering degree or proven technical experience is preferred.
This role primarily serves as a welding engineer for welding development, fabrication,
fixturing and tooling support with the contract manufacturer.
The role develops and evaluates welding processes that meet or improve weld quality,
throughput, velocity, and our standards.
Developing weld quality plans, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, weld process or
parameter development, or other joining-related needs.
Lead or contribute to welding, fabrication, fixturing and tooling development projects.
Collaborate on multi-disciplinary technical assistance teams to provide superior welding
process solutions.
Collaborate with the design engineering, AME and quality on projects and
problem-solving exercises.
Keep up to date on new technologies in the art and design of welding and fabricating.
Communicate welding process improvements to the contractor manufacturer.
Communicate technical information effectively with quality, design engineering, and AME
team members.
Function as an individual contributor or project team leader.
