About the Role:
  • A leading corporation in Vietnam provides comprehensive technical services for the oil and gas industry, energy sector, and industrial infrastructure. 
Responsibilities:
  • Participating in Planning and Implementation of Detailed Design and Construction Design:
    • Proposing partners, joint venture models, and collaborative arrangements for design tasks. Determining in-house tasks, subcontractor and design consultant plans.
    • Developing requirements for surveys supporting design (pre-engineering surveys), detailed design, and construction design. Organizing and managing detailed design and construction design, including extracting construction volumes, key materials, and resources for the design process.
    • Preparing the project’s design documentation list.
    • Drafting technical specifications for procurement packages of design consultancy services and key materials for the project.
    • Evaluating and clarifying technical aspects of procurement packages for design consultancy services, equipment, and primary materials.
    • Monitoring and resolving design-related issues in procurement packages to ensure overall project progress.
    • Creating, managing, and supervising the schedule for design implementation.
    • Executing detailed designs and construction drawings to ensure quality and safety during construction.
  • Organizing and Managing Design Resources:
    • Establishing organizational charts for design execution, assigning personnel to the project, and managing resources (personnel, equipment, etc.) for detailed and construction design.
    • Evaluating and analyzing safety aspects and identifying risks in detailed design and construction design tasks.
    • Managing scope changes, technical requirements related to design work, and assessing impacts on the overall project timeline.
    • Facilitating communication, handling information exchange, and coordinating tasks among design team members, other project participants, and stakeholders.
    • Encouraging and reminding departments to complete assigned tasks within set deadlines.
  • Reporting and Coordination:
    • Preparing weekly and monthly design reports as required by the project.
    • Organizing weekly and regular project meetings on design progress with clients and subcontractors.
    • Driving the design team to complete as-built documentation and finalize as-built drawings and reports according to schedule after project completion.
Requirements:
Education Level
  • Graduated with a bachelor's degree (engineering) or higher (master’s) in technical disciplines such as construction, architecture, marine, mechanical, automation, etc., from domestic or international universities.
  • Completing professional training courses or earning a second degree (bachelor’s or master’s) in project management is an advantage.
  • Major Level
  • Mechanical engineering, construction engineering, chemical equipment, oil and gas equipment; ship hull structures; electrical engineering, automation; petrochemical technology, or equivalent fields.
Experience and Knowledge
  • 8–10 years of work in technical industries related to oil and gas, renewable energy, construction, or mechanical engineering.
  • At least 5 years as a Design Manager (Engineering Manager) or Head of Engineering Department in design companies or offshore oil and gas, renewable energy, or industrial construction projects.
  • Lead designer role in at least 3 DE or EPCI projects as an Engineering Manager.
  • Hands-on experience working with project owners in EPCI projects and subcontractors for detailed design, FEED design, and DE verification.
  • Experience managing and organizing design teams across disciplines (e.g., structure, piping, E&I, telecom) for DE, EPCI, or BFM projects with teams of 30–50 designers or more.
  • Skilled in training and developing team members, enhancing their expertise and efficiency.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Deep expertise in structural design, piping systems, manufacturing systems, construction, equipment installation, electrical/control systems design, and pre-commissioning and commissioning for offshore oil and gas facilities or onshore oil/gas/petrochemical plants.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry-specific technical standards for oil and gas, mechanical fabrication, chemical construction, electrical, and automation design.
  • Basic knowledge of technical-economic norms.
  • Knowledge of bidding, tender organization for EPCI/EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Commissioning), HUC (Hook-up & Commissioning), and BFM (Brownfield Modification) projects.
  • Experience drafting technical requirements for consultancy packages, evaluating design consultancy tenders, and preparing technical requirements for equipment and key material packages.
  • Proficient in planning, progress reporting, presenting design solutions, and mobilizing design resources for projects.
  • Strong group management and teamwork skills.
English Skills
  • Excellent English proficiency, particularly in direct communication with native English speakers and preparing technical documents.
  • PC Skills
  • Proficient in office software and design-support tools like 3D modeling (Aveva E3D, PDMS, Smart® 3D), NavisWorks, and computational tools such as: 
  • Process (HYSYS), piping (CEASER II, ROHR2), or structural engineering (SACS, ANSYS, ABAQUS).
Other Requirements
  • Possession of Level 1 or Level 2 professional certifications in industrial or civil construction design or equivalent short-term international certifications is an advantage.
  • Leadership, problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and a collaborative attitude.
  • Strong communication skills with clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work flexibly in terms of time and location to meet project demands.
