Scam Alert: commission-based tasks, mobile apps, and social groups impersonating Manpower Vietnam

Be Aware of Job and Task Scams!

At Manpower Vietnam, we have become aware of widespread scams involving the impersonation of ManpowerGroup and Manpower officers or Manpower Vietnam Company Limited. These fraudulent practices misuse our brand assets, including our logo, company name, email address, signatures, content, and post images.

The scammers approach unsuspecting victims with a small commission or gift, with the opportunity to receive more upon the completion of simple tasks.

Here are some examples of red flags to look out for:

  • Phone Calls: Victims may receive calls inviting them to accept free gifts from well-known brands or e-commerce platforms.

  • Invitations to Groups on Social Media: Scammers may send invitations to join chat groups named ManpowerGroup or Manpower on popular social networks such as Zalo, Facebook, Telegram and TikTok.

  • Commission-based Tasks: Victims would be given tasks involving the generation of social media traction, such as following Zalo, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram accounts, liking and subscribing to YouTube channels/videos, boosting accounts by following/liking/commenting on posts and so on. Upon completion of the “tasks”, victims would receive a small commission each time.

  • Mobile Apps Download: Victims may receive an invitation to scan a QR code and download a mobile app that is not available on Google Play/CH Play or Apple App Store. Victims would prompted to create accounts on scam websites or fraud apps and transfer monies to bank accounts or crypto wallets provided by the scammers. These are done with the pretext of earning a higher commission after completion of the transfer. Victims would only realize that they had been scammed when they were told to pay additional funds to “upgrade their accounts” or when they failed to withdraw their “earnings”.

Warning Signs and How to Check for Scams

If you receive unusual communication from someone claiming to be a recruiter or officer from Manpower or suspect signs of fraud, stay safe by doing the SCC: Spot. Check. Contact.

1. Spot

  • Did the job offer lucrative returns for minimal effort?

  • Did the “officer” ask you to click on links, fill in forms or pay a fee?

  • Did the “officer” ask you to do something immediately, urgently or in short notice?

  • Do the posted images or documents show signs of editing, cropping, or ratio distortion?

2. Check

  • Check the information mentioned in the message or social group (e.g., company name, address, logo) by looking up the information yourself online.

  • Check if the job is advertised on Manpower Vietnam’s official website.
