On October 4th, Hoa Sen University organized an insightful orientation workshop for the K23 first-year students majoring in Human Resource Management and Business Administration, with the presence of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Operation Manager, Staffing & Outsourcing Services, ManpowerGroup Vietnam.

"The mindset of “a Job for life” in the past, where people were more than willing to trade autonomy for job stability, is now replaced “a Career for me” approach, as today individuals know that in order to remain employable throughout their career, they must be willing to continually learn and upskill in a strategic way to achieve professional goals at every stage of their careers”, Son shared.

According to ManpowerGroup's Q3 2023 survey, 77% of employers say they are struggling to find talent with the skills they need, reaching a 17-year high. This indicates a global talent shortage, especially in terms of skills, and Vietnam is no exception. Son emphasized, ““Owning the essential skills, particularly soft skills, digital skills, and self-learning abilities, will enable students to fully leverage their potential, find best-fit jobs and thereby advance and succeed in their career.”

Skills are now considered the 'new currency' in the labor market, but to be able to learn, cultivate, and improve appropriate skills, students will need an oriented career path.

During the meet & greet, K23 students at Hoa Sen University also had chances to try ManpowerGroup career tools - the Learnability Quotient and SkillsInsight – which helped freshmen explore their abilities and their compatibility with various professions.

Many students were enthusiastic about the valuable information and tools during the orientation. “I'm very excited to be here because this is the first event where I've met other students, lecturers, clubs, and company representatives. It's quite new and overwhelming for me, and I hope I can apply this to my studies and career”, shared a student of Human Resource Management.
