As part of ManpowerGroup’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development, the ManpowerGroup Vietnam team embarked on the “Thap sang vung bien” (Lighting Up the Borderlands) initiative at the end of October 2024. The journey took us to Lai Chau College in Quyet Thang ward, Lai Chau city, Lai Chau province.
Lai Chau College, situated in the highland border region of Northwest Vietnam, is home to 1,000 students. Many of these students come from ethnic minority backgrounds and face challenging circumstances. The lack of personal learning equipment and supplies hinders educational quality and community development.
In the recent “Thap sang vung bien” program in Lai Chau, ManpowerGroup Vietnam donated 1,000 kg of rice, 232 notebooks, 90 large backpacks, 17 small backpacks, and 3 used laptops – all funded by contributions from many departments, and the Enterprise team’s private fund at ManpowerGroup Vietnam. Additionally, ManpowerGroup Vietnam contributed 20 million VND to the school’s scholarship fund. These gifts were handed directly to the students and the school administration, bringing joy and motivation to the students on their educational journey.
During this trip, ManpowerGroup Vietnam engaged in discussions with the school administration and teachers at Lai Chau College to better understand the students' employment needs. By doing so, we aim to offer suitable career guidance activities and programs, supporting students in better preparing for the labor market. ManpowerGroup Vietnam believes that access to meaningful and sustainable job opportunities will create significant changes for people in border villages, improving economic, culture and fostering stability and sustainable development to the community.
The ”Thap sang vung bien” journey is a part of ManpowerGroup Vietnam's Working to Change the World, aiming to create a happier, more prosperous, and sustainable life for all.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all volunteers participating in the program, especially team Enterprise North for successfully organizing and hosting the trip.
