The EHS Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety within the manufacturing facility. This role will involve conducting risk assessments, training employees, and collaborating with various departments to enhance workplace safety and environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a safety-first culture and encourage safe work practices.
- Provide training and resources to employees on EHS topics, including hazard recognition and safe handling practices.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics; prepare and present reports to management and regulatory agencies as required.
- Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry trends; recommend improvements to maintain compliance and enhance EHS programs.
- Facilitate emergency response planning and training, ensuring employees are prepared for potential incidents.
- Serve as the primary contact for EHS-related inquiries and coordination with external regulatory agencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an EHS Officer or similar role in a manufacturing environment (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.
- Experience in hazardous materials management and waste disposal.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
