Job Description:

The Head of Chinese Desk plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the Chinese Desk within the international bank. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of Chinese markets, business practices, and regulatory environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, fostering strong client relationships, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market Analysis and Strategy:

    • Conduct comprehensive analysis of Chinese financial markets, economic trends, and regulatory changes.
    • Develop and implement effective strategies to capitalize on business opportunities in the Chinese market.
    • Provide insights to the executive team on market developments and potential risks.
  2. Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including Chinese corporations, financial institutions, and high-net-worth individuals.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for Chinese clients, addressing their financial needs and providing tailored solutions.
  3. Team Leadership:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of professionals within the Chinese Desk.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, ensuring team members are motivated and aligned with the bank's objectives.
    • Provide guidance on deal structuring, negotiations, and client interactions.
  4. Business Development:

    • Drive business development initiatives to expand the bank's presence in the Chinese market.
    • Identify new business opportunities, products, and services that align with the needs of Chinese clients.
    • Work closely with the marketing and sales teams to execute strategic plans.
  5. Risk Management and Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to local and international regulatory requirements.
    • Implement robust risk management practices to safeguard the bank's interests.
    • Stay abreast of changes in regulations and proactively address any compliance issues.
  6. Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other departments and business units to ensure seamless integration of the Chinese Desk within the overall business strategy.
