Job Summary:

The Head of Credit Risk is responsible for overseeing and managing the credit risk framework within the securities company. This role ensures the effective assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of credit risk exposure across various financial instruments and counterparties. The individual will work closely with key stakeholders, including trading, investment, compliance, and finance teams, to establish and maintain risk policies, strategies, and controls in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Credit Risk Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s credit risk management framework, policies, and procedures.

  • Assess credit risk exposure for clients, counterparties, and financial products, including margin lending, structured products, and derivatives.

  • Monitor credit limits, margin requirements, and collateral adequacy to mitigate potential losses.

  • Conduct credit risk analysis and approve credit exposures within the company’s risk appetite.

  • Identify, measure, and report key credit risk indicators, ensuring timely escalation of potential risks.

2. Risk Assessment & Monitoring:

  • Oversee the credit review process for new and existing clients, ensuring comprehensive due diligence and financial analysis.

  • Implement credit risk models and stress testing methodologies to assess portfolio vulnerabilities.

  • Monitor market conditions and industry trends to proactively manage emerging credit risks.

  • Develop and maintain an early warning system to detect potential credit deterioration.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with local and international credit risk regulations and guidelines.

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors on credit risk-related matters.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for risk policies, procedures, and risk assessment methodologies.

4. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead and develop the credit risk team, fostering a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with front-office, legal, and compliance teams to align risk management strategies with business objectives.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management and the board on credit risk trends and mitigation strategies.

  • Conduct regular training and awareness sessions for internal stakeholders on credit risk policies and best practices.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in credit risk management within securities, banking, or financial institutions.

  • Strong understanding of financial products, securities trading, margin lending, and credit risk assessment methodologies.
