Key Service Requirements

• Hands-on experience and technical knowledge in any of the following areas: CNC, stamping, modeling, assembly, coating, fixture/cutter/automation design

• Other process knowledge in 3C industry is preferred

• 5+ years of relevant manufacturing working experience

• Have trouble shooting skills (understanding of analytical tools such as SEM / TEM / EDX / FTIR / XPS etc.)

• Experiences in leading process development in a high volume manufacturing environment

• Demonstrated ability to be responsible for a complete functional area of an application

• Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, ability to work independently with cross-functional teams and drive towards common goals, ability to work in unstructured environment

• Detail oriented and as required to solve specific complicated process problems

• Deep understanding of QA methodologies

• Good experience of on-site build support and work from OEM factories

• A team player who is self-motivated and results oriented

• Travel frequently (mainly in Asia) is required

• Good English written and oral commination skills, in emails, con-calls and presentation, etc

• BS/MS in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering

Service Description

• The MDEs are extraordinary engineers that provide end to end manufacturing and process solutions for key design features. This includes manufacturing process development and capability (includes incorporating all aspects of equipment, consumables, key parameters, process setup, and qualification), selection and/or design of manufacturing equipment, automation, and strategic R&D.

• Define best-in-class processes to meet all Apple design and operational requirements.

• Develop and document processes including all parameters, consumables and secondary operation requirements to meet defined specifications.

• Use data to drive process decisions, basic data analysis, DOEs, SPC, etc.

• Closely track and clearly communicate the status of NPI process development and MP process optimization such as the process readiness, stability, operational risks, cosmetic and dimensional yield bridge and FACA, OEE, yield and capacity optimization, within and cross the team.

• Identify, research, develop, and qualify premier equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

• Define part tolerance and specifications by demonstrating process capability to Product Designers and Industrial Designers.

• Provide leadership at manufacturing sites during development and product production ramp, and drive engineering issues to resolution.

• Work closely with Cupertino-based SBEs in the development of above said processes.

• Partner with Global Supply Managers to define and establish supply chain requirements utilizing selected equipment and manufacturing suppliers.

• Work with Manufacturing Quality Engineers to work on and close quality issues, drive yield improvement, and ship good parts to downstream supply chain nodes.
