RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate on the design and implementation of new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks according to client’s requirements and guidelines.

  • Install, configure and support network equipment, including routers, access points, switches, WAN accelerators, security devices like firewalls, ips, ids, etc, and any other network devices under the supplier scope of work.

  • Support on defining network equipment specifications (BOM) required to fulfill client needs and assist to make sure critical equipment is under maintenance agreements.

  • Assist on configuring firewalls, routers and switches according to client’s guidelines, policies or instructions defined by the competent IT organization to maximize network efficiency and security. Keep and maintain current the network security settings and work with the proper areas (GCIA, NOC, etc).

  • Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting. Work with the required network team to make sure data and voice network is available 7x24. Setup and consult available monitoring tools and keep track of resource utilization (proc, mem, bw, etc) and be accountable for overall network uptime.

  • Arrange scheduled upgrades related to network hardware/software using the established change processes. Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases approved by client and the vendor.

  • Respond to network connectivity issues and outages, by troubleshooting and investigating faults in the network (data/voice/Voip) when reported by automatic monitoring alarms or incidents tickets. Participate on conference calls organized to provide status or collaborate with other teams.

  • Work with Telecom and Internet service providers (network carriers) when there are issues involving the service provided by the carrier (WAN/MAN) to properly troubleshoot and solve the problem.

  • Proactively report network status to key stakeholders: IT Support supervisor, Site ITM, NOC, GCIA, etc.and also report network issues using the appropriate channels (client Service Desk), escalate situations where other support tiers are required.

  • Work with vendors to claim equipment warranties, open support/RMA cases, troubleshoot network issues, return and replace network equipment or components.

  • Advise the IT management about EOL equipment, network resources capacity thresholds met, mandatory security upgrades or any other authorized change required to keep the network secure and current.

  • Create and update network documentation: network diagrams, IDF layouts, network equipment inventories, procedures, records faults, utilization metrics, etc. as wells as equipment and port identification and labeling.

  • Participate on the management of IP addressing assigned to network equipment, servers and end points.

  • Setup WiFi infrastructure (AP, WLC, etc) according to the company security policies/guidelines and makes sure the coverage is adequate and the network is secure.

  • Ensure all network equipment configuration is backed up and can be retrieved in case is required.

  • Enforce client’s policies and procedures by implementing or deploying approved controls in the network environment.

  • Work with IT PMs/ IT Infrastructure supervisors where projects require or involve network related activities: network expansion, customer requirements, connectivity setups, etc. Participate on the elaboration of capital requests for technology projects.

  • Support client’s Disaster Recovery and Resiliency initiatives. Participate on documenting, implementing and testing recovery and validation procedures. Ensure high availability and redundancy is implemented and working on critical equipment.

REQUIREMENT

  • Thorough knowledge and in-depth field experience regarding emerging or job technologies required to fulfill the job.

  • Strong communications and customer service skills.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Experience on implementing communications/routing protocols: IGRP, EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP  Knowledge on current Cisco IOS.

  • Knowledge on Networking monitoring tools

  • Experience on Data and Voice circuits implementation (different technologies)

  • Knowledge on information security standards, IP Security (IPSec), VPNs, IPS, firewalls etc.

  • Experience configuring, administering and troubleshooting Network & Telecomm. equipment

  • Routers, switches, Call managers, Wireless LAN Controllers, PBX, video conference, encryption units, VoIP, Accelerators, etc.

  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems preferred.

  • Cisco certified CCNA, CCIE, CompTIA is desired.

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a related position.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
