POSITION NAME: Engineer, Operations Excellence

REPORTS TO:      Operations Excellence Manager

CONTACTS:         Other related department in company and entities.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:      

  • Support to deployment of all OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE initiatives in Plant, and to ensure alignment of OE. Will also collaborate with various departments/ functions on all strategic and functional policy deployment, with support and review, with the objective to optimize business and operational results.
  • Implementation of Lean & Six Sigma (LSS) activities in Plant, with the objective to materialize and maximize the returns from all LSS initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement all OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE processes, such as Support and Deployment of activities, through OE strategy, with periodic review, tracking, reporting, action, with, focus, and priority from time-to-time of business
  • Put Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles into practical application by the assigned projects, gaining and maintaining commitment from team members through continual training, education and coaching.
  • Lead assigned teams throughout the problem-solving efforts, identify barriers to the effective implementation of the Six Sigma process and take the necessary action to resolve or escalate issues/problems.
  • Report as appropriate on project status through the established project tracking system and management/project reviews.
  • Provide support, assistance and mentoring to Six Sigma Green Belts in their process improvement projects, sharing expertise to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Be accountable for the compliance to rules, procedures and requirement in term of

a.            6S & KAIZEN

b.            Environmental Health Safety

c.             EICC & Social Responsibility

d.            Protection of company assets

  • Understand, support and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

SCOPE:

Decisions:            Way of working with the teams, tools using in projects

Level of guidance:           Independent work with regular results review

Metrics/$ impact:

                2-3 Belts projects per year

Achieve forecasted savings and meet the goals from the projects

Breadth of accountability/job impact:     Belt projects have an impact mostly on the whole plant

Impact on quality

Complexity of tasks:       Performing highly complex tasks require creative thinking, analyses, problem solving abilities

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED:          College or University degree

PREFERRED:        Business or technical discipline

WORK EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:          5+ years of experience in any business or technical function requiring the application of analytical skills.  Experience with leading teams and proven problem-solving experience and process focus.

PREFERRED:        Previous experience in the application of advanced statistical techniques.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

REQUIRED:         

1.            Knowledge of foreign languages:  English – fluent

4.            Profound knowledge of the manufacturing process

5.            Certificates:  Belt Six Sigma

6.            Knowledge of computer programs: SAP, Minitab. MS Office
