Job Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee and enforce safety and health standards at our factory in Vietnam. The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing safety programs, ensuring compliance with local and international safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safe working environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of safety protocols, local labor laws, and industrial safety procedures, with a proven ability to minimize workplace hazards. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Safety Compliance and Regulations 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Vietnamese occupational safety and health regulations, and stay updated on any changes in the law. 

  • Regularly audit and inspect the workplace to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify any safety violations or areas for improvement. 

  • Comply with company policies, rules, and regulations, and promote and support various standard system development activities ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, GHPs, IWAY, BRC, and safety regulations that the organization implements. 

2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification 

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the factory environment (e.g., mechanical, chemical, electrical, or ergonomic risks). 

  • Develop and maintain hazard control strategies to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, and health issues. 

  • Collaborate with department heads to identify safety risks in specific areas, such as production lines, warehouses, and maintenance facilities. 

3. Accident Prevention and Investigation 

  • Monitor and track safety incidents, injuries, and near-miss accidents, ensuring proper reporting and documentation. 

  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents to determine the root cause, propose corrective actions, and implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence. 

  • Conduct regular safety drills (e.g., fire, emergency evacuation) to prepare workers for emergency situations. 

4. Training and Safety Education 

  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, the proper use of equipment, and emergency response protocols for all employees. 

  • Organize regular workshops, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns to promote a strong safety culture within the factory. 

  • Ensure that all new hires receive thorough safety orientations and understand the factory’s safety guidelines. 

5. Health Monitoring and Ergonomics 

  • Monitor the health conditions of employees working in environments with hazardous materials or extreme conditions (e.g., temperature, noise). 

  • Conduct ergonomic assessments to reduce work-related musculoskeletal disorders, improving employee well-being. 

  • Implement programs to address occupational health concerns, such as exposure to hazardous materials or repetitive strain injuries. 

6. Documentation and Reporting 

  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and investigations. 

  • Prepare regular safety reports and present findings to management, making recommendations for improvements where necessary. 

  • Ensure accurate documentation of safety training sessions, attendance, and certifications. 

7. Safety Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 

  • Ensure that all workers have access to necessary PPE (helmets, gloves, goggles, etc.) and are trained in their proper usage. 

  • Monitor the condition of safety equipment and arrange for regular maintenance, replacement, or calibration as required. 

  • Ensure the factory is equipped with adequate safety signage, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and other safety features. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.  

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or factory environment.  

  • In-depth knowledge of Vietnamese safety regulations, labor laws, and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA).  

  • Good command of Vietnamese and English is required. 

  • Knowledge of labor, safety, and environmental laws. Including the requirements 

  • Ability to identify safety risks, analyze data, and develop strategies to prevent accidents and improve workplace safety. 

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
