The fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0) and digital transformation particularly are reshaping and transforming in-demand skills and roles, which highlights the needs for upskilling and reskilling employees. According to the Talent Shortage Survey 2021 by ManpowerGroup, the global talent shortages are at the highest levels in 15 years with 69% of employers reporting difficulty filling vacancies. Skills scarcity is one of the leading trends today.
According to the WEF, about 1 billion people will need to be reskilled by 2030 and up to 94% of business leaders expect employees to pick up new skills on the job (*). Under the impact of the pandemic, global workers are now united in what they want: more flexible, more diverse and more wellbeing-oriented. Up to 48% of employees will likely work remotely at least part of the time after COVID-19 (**).
