Total Workforce Index for Vietnam announced
ManpowerGroup Solutions (a brand of ManpowerGroup) has just announced the Total Workforce Index (TWI) of Vietnam. As the world leader in innovative workforce solutions with footprints in 80 countries and territories, ManpowerGroup is constantly doing researches on the labor market so that the company can consult clients with innovative workforce solutions. According to ManpowerGroup’s TWI of Vietnam (1), out of the 55.92 million working people in Vietnam, the permanent workforce makes up 38% and contingent workforce accounts for 62%. TWI also reveals that there are some limitations in the local workforce, such as only 5% of local workforce with working English proficiency, and only 10.4% of local workforce is highly skilled (white collar workers). These findings show that Vietnam has not yet fully developed its human resources.
On the other hand, the reported cost of doing business in Vietnam is only 4.6% of Gross National Income per capita, the average monthly salary is about $ 220 compared to $ 2,648 per month of the region. Also, Vietnam's labor market efficiency is not too low compared to the region, namely 4.33% compared to 4.38% of the region; Technical readiness in commerce reached 3.51% compared to 4.92% of the region, working time almost equivalent to the region. It can be said that Vietnam is still a country with competitive labor costs for those wishing to invest in here.
