HR Internship: Expectation and Reality

On August 7th, 2022, ManpowerGroup Vietnam joined “HR Internship Connections 2022” job fair organized by the Faculty of Economics and HR Management, National Economics University in Hanoi.

​Internship period is considered increasingly important because it is a stepping stone for students to experience professional working environment outside school, practicing working skills and identifying career direction. Therefore, choosing a suitable company for an internship that is in line with their qualifications and career goals is concerned by final-year students.

“School curriculum have equipped me with professional knowledge and essential soft skills. However, I look forward to take steady steps towards my future career after graduation via internship programs that are suitable with my job preference and orientation,” shared Ngoc Khanh, a final year student of Faculty of Business Management.

Prior to the job fair, a quick survey was carried out by the organizer to find out most important factors for students when they enroll in an internship program. The surved found that “learning opportunities” and “remuneration package” are most concerned by students.

At HR Internship Connection 2022, NEU students also had the chance to explore available internship positions at well-known companies. Ms. Ha Nguyen, Training and Recruiter Manager at ManpowerGroup Vietnam said: “As the largest global recruitment, staffing and outsourcing company in Vietnam, ManpowerGroup Vietnam’s Trainee Program 2022 is aimed at building career development path for each of our trainees. At the talk show, gaps and concerns between interns and employers were shared, discussed, and analyzed by experienced speakers in HR industry and soon-to-be graduating students. McKinsey Vietnam’ representative emphasized top three most desired skills of interns by employers, i.e. working attitude, learnability and teamwork skill.
