- Lead interface for process related activities/inquiries of our business at the Vietnam CM.
- Communicate and develop best practices in manufacturing process development (Machining, Laser Cutting, Punching, Welding, Powder Coat, Final Assembly). Working with CM’s to improve processes to provide better value to our.
- Leads root cause analysis for any process failures that may occur at the CM, these failures can me customer or testing failures.
- Work with other AME teams to improve supplier performance and quality. This will be accomplished through dedicated trails, feedback and improvement in an effort to improve the product reliability and increase value to our customers.
- Contribute to the APQP documentation ensuring it is adequately completed for all New Product Introductions (NPI) and adequately updated for all on-going design and process changes. Ensure that supplier and customer PPAP’s are adequately completed and approved per AIAG requirements.
- Develop presentations for process reviews by both our and multiple customer groups as necessary.
- Support new / existing supplier audits, internal auditing and assist procurement and engineering by acting in a Supplier Development role for potential new suppliers.
- Lead, develops and improves through problem solving the manufacturing, testing, and other processes, methods, and procedures with suppliers, advanced manufacturing engineering, and design as necessary to accomplish company quality objectives and requirements.
- 5 + years of experience in a Process Engineering leadership role is required.
- AWS certification(s)/knowledge is preferred
- Lean Six Sigma certification, strongly preferred.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent (mechanical)
- Minimum experience: 5-7 years of progressively responsible and successful experience in an automotive process engineering role, or a combination of engineering and quality roles in an operations environment.
- Must have experience with welding, punching, powder coat and assembly operations.
- Must have excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
- Must have experience in working with different cultures (China, Vietnam, US)
- Ability to use assertiveness when required is essential
- Must be fluent in English and Vietnamese.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Education Requirements:
- BS/BA in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial) or a related technical field is required.
- Extensive knowledge of proper welding standards, and practical application of the standards in an industrial setting.
- Extensive knowledge of metal cutting, bending and powder coat operations.
- Extensive knowledge of process improvement and understanding of Lean concepts for assembly manufacturing.
- Knowledge of PPAP and FMEA activity for both current and new product launches
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 Quality Systems
- Advanced problem-solving skills & familiarity with DMAIC principles
- This position will require occasional day and/or overnight travel in the region with some international travel as needed to the China CM’s.
