Significant progress achieved at Long Son Petrochemical Project

After over three years of construction, at the end of November 2022, Long Son Petrochemical Company Limited (LSP) officially inaugurated the first three important items of the Long Son petrochemical complex.

The three items including a hydrocarbon terminal, a tank system and a central utility plant were put into operation in Long Son commune, Vung Tau city, Ba Ria–Vung Tau province. The remaining items of the complex have been completed for 98% and will come into commercial operation in mid-2023. The investor of the petrochemical complex is continuing to deploy the second phase with a total investment of USD 5.5 billion.

These items are expected to create growth momentum for the petrochemical industry in Vietnam and reduce the dependence on imports, increasing the competitiveness of products.

The impressive progress of the Long Son Petrochemical Project as shown in the news report of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province Radio and Television Station (BRT):

“From the implementation of phase 1, we have accumulated a lot of experience in managing a mega project as well as working processes in Vietnam. Besides, we apply advanced technologies to ensure the highest safety and the least impact on the environment”, said Mr. Tharna Sanee, General Director of LSP shared.

The timely implementation of the southern petrochemical complex’s phase 1 has inspired and created motivation for LSP to operate effectively and continue to accelerate the implementation of the second phase.
