This position is responsible for process development and improvement for the critical components used in fitness equipment being built in Vietnam. The critical components includes but is not limited to: Bearings, rollers, belts, walking belts, walking boards, and motors. The key activities this role will have responsibility for include process development, throughput improvement, root cause analysis and lean manufacturing. This role is the lead manufacturing development, standardization, and improvement critical component suppliers and their application into the Vietnam CM’s. They will drive improvement and adherence to our product standards, driving for the reduction of defects, rework and improved product quality. This role will have the primary responsibility for the suppliers process flow, quality and throughput in Vietnam. This position is “hands on” and requires a steadfast approach and discipline and the mentoring of the CM engineering teams to understand the expectations of our AME.
The Senior AME Component Engineer must be an experienced champion of problem solving, knowing and using the most relevant tools (i.e. Scientific Method, DMAIC, 8D, 5Why, etc.) as well as educating our and supplier personnel in these methodologies. This person must be process oriented and disciplined, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively through others and with individuals at all levels of the customer’s, CM’s, and our’s organizations. The person must be able to propose, commit to, and meet deadlines, work well unsupervised, act in a highly professional manner, and be a key representative of the company and its leadership.
Responsibilities:
Lead interface for process related activities/inquiries of our’s business at any of the Vietnam CM’s.
- Develop, document and communicate best practices in suppliers operations for the critical components: Bearings, rollers, belts, walking belts, walking boards, and motors in an effort to improve quality, durability and cost.
- Develop, document and communicate best practices in manufacturing processes scheduling, transition, PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) and rework activities.
- Leads root cause analysis for any process failures that may occur at the CM, these failures can be customer or testing failures.
- Work with other AME teams to improve supplier performance and quality. This will be accomplished through dedicated trials, feedback and improvement in an effort to improve the product reliability and increase value to our customers.
- Develop presentations for process reviews by both our and multiple customer groups as necessary.
- Support new / existing supplier audits, internal auditing and assist procurement and engineering by acting in a Supplier Development role for potential new suppliers.
- Lead, develop and improve through problem solving the manufacturing, testing, and other processes, methods, and procedures with suppliers, advanced manufacturing engineering, and design as necessary to accomplish company quality objectives and requirements.
- 5 + years of experience as supplier development in a leadership role is required.
- Lean Six Sigma certification, strongly preferred.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent (mechanical)
- Minimum experience: 5-7 years of progressively responsible and successful experience in an automotive or fitness supplier engineering role, or a combination of engineering and quality roles in an operations environment.

- Must be fluent in English and Vietnamese.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- BS/BA in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial) or a related technical field is required.
- Expert knowledge of component properties and industry standards, and practical application of the standards in the fitness industry setting.
- Knowledge of supplier operations and manufacturing capabilities.
- Knowledge of process improvement and understanding of Lean concepts for assembly manufacturing.
- Knowledge of PPAP and FMEA activity for both current and new product launches
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 Quality Systems
- Advanced problem-solving skills & familiarity with DMAIC principles
Business Travel Expectations
- This position will require occasional day and/or overnight travel in the region with some international travel as needed to the China CM’s.
- Rare Travel to Logan, UT may required to train and learn about testing standards.
