OVERVIEW: 

• The Product Engineer role provides preventive quality & product development expertise & supports the Design Engineering / Quality Business Partner interface. 

• A Product Engineer protects the company brand by leveraging product and quality expertise in combination with active product development to ensure executional excellence in support and in alignment with the business priorities throughout the Supply Chain.  Demonstrates an end-to-end skill-set capable of adding value up and down the value stream with a focus on preventive quality and project management. Provides solutions using industry best practices, optimization of technologies and oversight of evolving industry standards to meet the needs of the business.   

• The Product Engineer is also required to develop and implement procedures to assess, monitor, and improve end-to-end performance of suppliers.  Can succinctly communicate with value stream partners – ranging from Creative through Supply Chain by way of effective customer facing skills. 

• Dimensions: the incumbent serves as an Engineering and technical practitioner across business areas and for supplier development on responsible products and other engineering solutions. 

• Protect the company brand by owning and upholding product integrity in the product engineering space especially in the Product Engineering, Quality Management, Project Management and Process Improvement areas, inspection of High Attention products (as required), and quality disposition.  Develops, implements and oversees quality management system across company’s global supply chain with existing and future suppliers. 

• Ensures executional excellence by overseeing and delivering world-class handoff integrity from Creative processing through Supply Chain production. 

• Integrate technical skills, category knowledge, and real-world experience to develop and execute process improvements with a special emphasis on risk management, preventive quality and data analytics. 

• Embrace executional excellence by applying value-added competencies beyond technical such as Lean, and data science.  Is effective with company systems and processes as well as industry best practices and standards.  Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to drive continuous improvement across the global supply chain. 

• Serves as key contact for business partners for product development, quality resolutions and improvement planning 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Engineering Function:

• Innovation/ R & D:  Responsible to lead/support or co-develop with customer and supplier for innovation and R & D.   

• Product development:  Responsible for smart design, design for quality and design for manufacturability. It also covers the product risk assessment for high attention programs to mitigate product risks.   

• Product cost management:  Pre-costing, costing review and design to cost to hit the cost target.   

• Order execution:  ensure executional excellence by overseeing and delivering world-class handoff integrity from creative space through supply chain production.  

• Implementing company’s systems and processes as well as industrial best practices and standards. Collects and interprets data to drive continuous across the global supply chain.  

• Accountable for supplier’s capability development (Location specific) 

• Product design approval (2D Specific) 
  
  Quality Function: 

• Defines and set up the quality specification correctly and consistently on programs. Sets standard process for the teammates to sustain the consistency.  

• Supports the CQS and key supplier quality development and maintenance program in China and South East Asia  

• Effective communicates and interprets of visual standards as well as testing protocols to suppliers and third-party laboratories  

• Quality disposition and technical issue resolution 

• New supplier quality and capability assessment  
  
  Project Management: 

• Supports business partners and suppliers on strategic projects 

• Supports capability development and training for suppliers 

• Supports CQS program, supplier development and maintenance 

REQUIREMENT 

• Degree in related engineering discipline or equivalent experience  

• 3-5 years related experience in toys / gifts / premium / printed industry  

• Flexible to work under changing and diverse work settings 

• Extensive travel to supplier sites for problem solving 

• Excellent people relations and mature thinking 

• Computer proficiency 

• Skills in English, Cantonese and Mandarin 

• High sense of accuracy, urgency and confidentiality
