The Production Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the quality assurance and quality control systems within the manufacturing process. This role ensures that products meet the necessary quality standards and regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, FDA, etc.).
- Establish quality metrics and performance indicators to monitor production quality levels.
- Quality Control Oversight:
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Review and approve quality control testing methods and specifications for raw materials, components, and finished products.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage the quality assurance team, providing training and development opportunities to ensure staff are knowledgeable about quality standards and practices.
- Foster a team environment that promotes quality awareness and accountability.
- Problem Solving and Improvement:
- Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for improvement.
- Initiate and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on findings from audits, inspections, and customer feedback.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to integrate quality guidelines into the manufacturing process.
- Assist in the development and execution of training programs related to quality procedures for all personnel.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, deviations, and corrective actions in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present quality reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas of concern.
- Customer Focus:
- Address customer complaints and inquiries regarding product quality, and work to resolve issues collaboratively.
- Participate in customer audits and quality-related meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
- Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to the industry (e.g., ISO 9001, FDA regulations).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with all levels of the organization.
