Sr. Category Manager, Mechanical

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop global strategy and supply base for potential incorporation into new and existing products
  • Demonstrate your engineering and technical knowledge to drive best in class solutions
  • Complete commercial agreements to properly reflect the expectations of the project including fixed and variable costs, lead times, schedules, manufacturing capacities, as well as test, quality, and ongoing reliability needs.
  • Proven track record and experience driving DFx methodologies with complex mechanical assemblies
  • Maintain expertise/knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape relative to mechanical commodity
  • Lead robust supplier selection processes using market analysis, concise request for proposals (RFPs), data driven approach and should cost modeling
  • Lead quarterly executive business reviews presenting strategic sourcing plans that defines, among other things, market and business analysis, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities, SWOT analysis and strategic business objectives
  • Manage all aspects of new supplier bring-up, qualification, capacity planning, cycle time, yield analysis, assurance of supply and execution to project timelines/schedules
  • Skilled negotiator driving supplier initiatives including annual cost reductions, lead-time reductions, favorable payment terms, warranty, IP, indemnity
  • Support Procurement team reporting and supplier diversity efforts
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with sourcing, including supplier relationship management and performance monitoring
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering or related Business degree
  • MBA in a related field is preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • In depth knowledge of mechanical components and processes and metal stamping, extrusions, castings, forgings, welding, plastic injection molding, others
  • Technical knowledge of tooling, tooling standards, mechanical and manufacturing processes
  • Technical understanding of raw materials, metallurgy
  • Previous experience collaborating with Asian ODM/JDM/EMS/CMs
  • Experience negotiating complex supply agreement and SOWs understanding of key contracting provisions/requirements
  • Strategic problem-solver, experienced putting together commodities strategy/roadmap with key engineering partners.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement standard methodologies, strong critical thinking and analytical ability, and process orientation in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems
  • Skilled in negotiation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable leading projects, and operating in matrixed teams
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at various phases
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to meet the needs of the business
  • Act as a self-starter and great teammate and hold a customer-first approach
