Role Overview:
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for driving quality initiatives and activities for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation, guiding selected suppliers through the approval and qualification processes and training approved suppliers on internal quality requirements. 
  • The SQE will drive continuous improvement initiatives by utilizing supplier scorecards and other KPIs as well as directing audits and inspections, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement plans where needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of inspectors to ensure that products produced are inspected to meet the company’s quality standards.
  • Provide expertise in supplier development initiatives to ensure best practice and industry standards are implemented and operating at all suppliers.
  • Train suppliers on the company’s system/tool requirements and monitor supplier activities for non-conformances.
  • Audit internal supplier processes and create CAPA plans for any findings. Work with the suppliers to close out any open corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Oversee NPI and new product safe launch. Leading activities such as control plans, first article inspections, etc.
  • Drive standardization and efficiency (including RCA’s, part qualification (PPAP), supplier claims, non-conformances, and supplier development.
  • Be a lean advocate, actively identify opportunities to simplify or standardize processes and tools within and across individual projects.  Areas of focus will include Non-Conformance internal and external escapes, Major and critical Process/Product audit failures, overall supplier non-Conformity numbers, Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and other KPIs.
  • Leads supplier approval process by assessing potential new suppliers’ manufacturing capabilities, Health, Safety and Environmental Risks as well as supplier capacity and capability.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues, through established non-conformance process.
  • Ensures Corrective and Preventative Action Reports (CPARs) are prepared by suppliers, completed with a sufficient level of depth, and actions are monitored through effective closure.
  • Work with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meets product and process requirements.
  • Assure supplier compliance with the company’s process and regulatory requirements through supplier monitoring process; develop and utilize supplier scorecards in line with the requirements of the Quality Management System
  • Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
  • Participation in NPI kick-off meetings / Pre-Inspection / Documentation review meetings with suppliers
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation for First Article Inspections and control plans. Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure all documents are collected from the supplier in a timely manner.
  • Identify and report any quality concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in quality, manufacturing, business operations, or related field.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, procedures, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA & DFMEA), Root cause analysis (RCA), Statistical Process control (SPC).
  • Demonstrated skills related to problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, leadership, root-cause analyses, and team collaboration to lead and influence others to drive change.
  • Familiarity with six sigma, lean manufacturing, ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in both English and Vietnamese languages.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced quality assurance methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers 50% of the time
